Domiciliary Care

The Domiciliary Care Program (Dom Care), provides a community based living arrangement for adults 18 years and older who can no longer live independently. The program offers a protective, home-like environment to those who have some difficulty in daily functioning due to physical, mental, or age related impairments.

Any home in the Mifflin or Juniata County area can apply to be certified as a Dom Care Home. The home will be evaluated and inspected to determine its safety and suitability for a client.

Dom Care Clients are individuals who require some assistance in such areas as money management, dressing, personal grooming, or when to take medication. While these persons can not live independently, they do not require institutional care. Anyone interested in becoming a client must be receiving or be eligible to receive, Supplemental Security Income. Person's age 18-59 must have a mental health or mental retardation condition.

Dom Care Home Providers are responsible for providing care and supervision to the client(s) placed in their home. This includes such things as providing rooms, meals, transportation, and assistance with personal needs. More importantly, Home Providers must be tolerant, understanding individuals who are willing to become involved with their client(s).

Home Providers presently receive $936.00 per month for each client in their home. Additionally, clients receive at least $172.30 per month as a personal needs allowance.

Dom Care is seeking families and individuals who are willing to provide the warmth and security of their homes to area residents unable to live alone. You can help others overcome loneliness, fear, and rejection and in return you will receive companionship and a financial reimbursement by becoming a Dom Care Home Provider.
